Air Show

We have some really cool friends! This weekend we went to the air show at Langley Air Force Base. Philip and I have been to the airshow before, but this time it was way cooler. Not only did we get to see the F22 Raptors fly (which was awesome, by the way), we saw this helicopter doing flips and briefly flying upside down (which made our friend almost wet his pants he was so nervous), and we also got to see the Thunderbirds fly. We were able to watch a number of othe planes fly as well, but those were just a few of our favorites (along with the standard favorite F15, which is always cool to watch too).

Anyway, Philip and I had a great time, and we had some crazy suprises throughout the day as well. Philip and I got there, and our friend BJ, who is an officer in the Air Force met us by the control tower (we had preferred parking thanks to BJ). BJ showed us his office and then took us to the other side of the building he works in, where we hopped on a golf cart and were brought over to the place where we watched most of the air show. Besides that, BJ got us into this area where we could get a ton of free food (wings, Carabba's food, Don Pablo's food, Kelly's Tavern, etc....) and free beer! Later in the day, BJ's wife, Schawann, and our friends Charlie and Angela came and we all hung out together. Once the Raptors flew, BJ took us up to the control tower and we got to watch the Thunderbirds from there.

Below are some pictures of some of the things we saw yesterday. I'm hoping to have some videos up as soon as Google cooperates with me.

The front of an F22 Raptor, the Air Force's new stealth plane. It rocks! I'm pretty much in love with this plane. :)

hey, this is erin, friend of philips from way back when.

question: is your church close to langley? i have a friend who will be there for the summer. maybe he could just meet BJ. i dunno. i don't think he *needs* friends (it's not like he asked me if i knew people there), but it'd be cool to pass the info on.

:o) great blog, jen. glad you're doing it.
